The
AMSES (Mission
Association of Solidarity and
Development) was established
within the Secretariat
of Foreign Missions of the
Capuchin Friars and
Father Ottavio Fasano
is the
founder. The
task of AMSES is
to contribute to the
implementation of development
projects in the archipelago
of Cape
Verde.
SAINT FRANCIS OF
ASSISI HOSPITAL
PROGRAM
The project,
of which
Father Ottavio
is the creator and
facilitator, has
seen the
creation of
a real
hospital with
two operating theatres,
two dental clinics, an
analysis and radiology laboratory
and, inpatient rooms
with 17 beds,
4 specialist clinics
and two
administrative offices. From
the beginning of 2004 it began
operating at full capacity
with the activity of
thirty employees
(doctors, health
professionals and
support staff) and
many volunteers who
have come and gone
in the years to
provide i ts medical
s taff (dentists, cardiologists,
pulmonologists, orthopedic
surgeons, gynecologists,
nurses, lab technicians),
but also
technical (managers,
architects, electricians).
FOGO VINEYARD
AGRICULTURAL PROGRAM
AND CONSTRUCTION OF A
CELLAR
There is a vineyard
on the slopes
of the island of
Fogo. Who
would have thought possible
until last year?
Yet Father
Octavius began
to believe in
this dream
already eight years
ago.
A great vineyard planted with modern criteria to give job opportunities in a country with chronic unemployment problems, promote professional training and process development, growth and innovation for local agriculture on the island of Fogo, stimulate the modernization of 'agriculture in other parts of the archipelago.

Children need
help. AMSES
deals with
the construction or
adaptation of
building structures for
the realization of
nurseries for the poor
and needy, support
the management of these nurseries,
with contributions
towards the payment of
staff (teachers,
kitchen staff and
cleaning),
maintenance facilities,
purchase of food
for meal preparation,
purchase of educational
materials.
